the things they call art
on the way to uni yesterday, i saw this interesting piece of "art". it was a piece of cardboard/plywood cut into a 2-D shape of a unrolled condom. it was leaning against a tree. when i was walking, i could only see the back view of it. as i walked past it, i could see the front. it was painted in an assortment of psychedelic colours and the guy had stuck on unrolled USED condoms onto it. at a glance, i'd say there were about 50 or so condoms. i've got nothing against using condoms in the name of art, but condoms full of whatever bodily excretions?!?!?! it kinda reminded me about this other exhibition i read of. this female basically charted her menstrual cycle by smearing whatever liquids that came out of her onto canvases. i wonder what this genre of art is called. provocative art?
