of muggy weather and irritable immigration service

it just rained, yet i am feeling all sticky. that's sg for you. all muggy. it's that feeling i get the moment i step out the door of changi airport. when i'm no longer enveloped in that alternate climate that air-conditioning provides. it's like walking into a wall. a wall of sticky, clingy air. it'll take the starch out of your collar in an hour. you try and remedy the situation by having cold showers, but they only work as long as you are standing under the water. 5 minutes after you step out, i.e. by the time you dry off, you start to feel the first beads of perspiration forming. but i guess the humid weather is good, since then you don't get drastic temperature changes like in the deserts.

on another note, governmental bureaucracy (with specific reference to the ausrtralian immigration department) is something to bring smiles to the faces of just about everyone, isn't it? especially when they only accept online applications for visas, and guess what?? their friggin' website takes yonks to load if at all. and when yours truly finally proceeded to the entering credit card details bit and did so and clicked "enter", the next screen did NOT load. which means that i have no idea what my receipt number is. as a result, i can NOT proceed to the next step of getting my health check. this was on tuesday night. i submitted a request for my reference number on wednesday morning, and i have yet to get an answer. it is end of business on thursday, in australia by now. so i play the waiting game. oh ya, on the same note, the australian high commission only has humans answering calls between 2.30 and 4.30 on mon, tue, thu and fri. i shall go fume in my corner now...
